Android 2.2 USB Tethering with Motorola Droid on Windows XP: Device Disappears from DDMS (adb)

Following the instructions (http://www.android.com/tether#usb) is easy enough, but once I had the tethering working, I noticed that my device had disappeared from my Eclipse DDMS window. My attempts to restart Eclipse, toggle Tethering, and unplug/replug the USB cable did not help.

Running ‘adb devices’ at the Command Prompt resulted in an empty list.

However, restarting Windows did the trick. After rebooting, DDMS shows my Droid in its list of devices when USB Tethering is Disabled. When USB Tethering is Enabled, the device disappears from the list of devices because it is acting as a network adapter.

Kind of a weird occurence, but I felt that it should be documented.

Great to see droid tethering in your post! Tethering your phone can be a wonderful resource to gain internet when regular service is down or unavailable!
